| dc.description.abstract | The main purpose of the study was to investigate the Influence of Head teachers‟ leadership roles in the implementation of sanitation and hygiene Services of Larteh Presbyterian SHTS in the Akwapim North Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana and establish the relationship between them. An interview was also used to gather information from the heads. All interviewees were approached purposively and voluntary were engaged at their own convenience time, place and unit of communication. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 5 respondents (heads of the school). The study adopted the interpretive paradigm because interpretivists believe that there is no one objective social reality and that there can be multiple realities. Findings from the study indicated that teachers are not happy with the way sanitation and hygiene are in the school, but they agree a lot can be done to ensure adequate sanitation in the school. Again, girls are more likely to attend school when they are on their period when there is safe water available, restrooms, and soap for handwashing. It is however recommended that there should be reinforcement of healthy lifelong behaviours in their families and communities. Again, teachers, parents, policy makers and guidance and counselling coordinators should ensure that appropriate measures should be put in place to ensure that there is adequate provision of sanitation and hygiene facilities in the school under the supervision of the head teachers | en_US |
