The purpose of the study is to assess the impact of Training and Development (T &
D) on the performance of employees in the Judicial Service. The study concentrates
primarily on the employees of the Kumasi High Courts. The study was guided by
three (3) objectives which were to find out if there are any T & D programmes for
employees in the Judicial Service, Kumasi, to find out the relationship between T and
D in the Judicial Service, Kumasi and finally to assess the impact of T and D on the
performance of employees in the Judicial Service in Kumasi. The study was a
descriptive survey with a sample of seventy (70) respondents from different sections
in the High Court, Kumasi. The researcher collected data using a questionnaire that
was self-generated from literature in the area of T & D. The researcher analysed the
data by using descriptive statistics such as percentages and frequencies and also used
regression and correlation analysis from the SPSS.
The results of the study showed that there was an existence of T & D programmes in
the Judicial service, also there was a positive significant correlation between training
and development and finally, the results showed that training and development were
significantly related to performance. It was, therefore, recommended that:
identification of training needs should be done more professionally and more often in
conjunction with the line manager, as well as with the individuals involved; and also a
well-structured training calendar be created for use at the Judicial Service at stated
periods of time. |
