Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to find out the perception of the distance education
students of Asanteman study center about the quality of support services received.
The adopted descriptive survey design and 120 students were randomly selected for
the study. A self-completion questionnaire was the main instrument used to collect
data from the participants. A Cronbach alpha co-efficient of 0.71 was obtained for the
instrument. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages and means were
employed in the data analysis. The results of the study revealed that majority of
respondents 91(76.20%) have positive perception about tutorial services received at
the Asanteman SHS Study Centre. Furthermore, the study indicated that majority of
the respondents 87(74.20%) had a positive perception about the quality of study
modules supplied at the Study Centre. Moreover, the study however, revealed that
majority of the respondents 76(53.3%) had a negative perception about the quality of
available facilities at Asanteman SHS Study Centre. It is therefore recommended that
adequate number of computers, projectors, library and computer laboratory should be
provided by management of UEW distance education at the Asanteman Senior High
School Study Centre to ensure the smooth running of the distance programme.
