dc.description.abstract The aim of the study was to find out perception of teachers on the teaching of ICT in basic schools in Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti Region. Specifically, it was designed to elicit respondents’ view on the importance of teaching ICT. It also sought to determine the challenges that affect the effective teaching of ICT. More so, the study sought to examine the support the teachers receive from school administrators with respect to the teaching of ICT. Fifty seven ICT basic school teachers were randomly selected to respond to self-completion questionnaire which was in the form of a rating scale, the main research instrument used for the data collection. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations. The findings from the study indicated that participants agreed to the relevance of teaching ICT to the students of basic schools. In addition, participants also agreed that they face challenges such as inadequate power supply, lack of qualified computer technicians, and inadequate number of computers when teaching ICT in the basic schools. Furthermore, participants of the study indicated that they do not receive support from school administrators when teaching ICT in basic schools. From these findings, it was recommended that government should provide schools with adequate ICT infrastructure to enable schools provide effective teaching of ICT. en_US
