Abstract:
It is obvious that students’ leadership in higher institutions has not been given much
attention. The current study focuses attention on the role of student's leadership in
higher education with respect to University of Education, Winneba.
Questionnaire was used mainly for data collection. In all 250 respondents were used for
data collection. These include SRC Executive, Hall executives, social clubs and
Associated religious leaders as course representatives.
The results or the findings of the study revealed that student leaders perform varied
roles in assisting the University. These roles include conducting of inspection to enable
the student leaders improve on performance, forming students clubs and the payment
for SRC dues, part of which is used to buy books for the library, refuse cans and
furniture. They also act as mediators between the student body and authorities.
