dc.description.abstract The aim of this study was to examine the extent to which attitudes of students, teacher quality and quantity and instructional materials pose problems to the teaching and learning of creative design and working drawing. The research adopted a survey approach. The simple random sampling method was used in sampling out the various subjects. These comprised members from the various levels and include staffs, tertiary and the non-tertiary students who are studying in the Polytechnic. In all, two sets of questionnaire were analysed; one set for students and the other questionnaire was for lecturers. The various data sets have been presented in tables. The findings of the study revealed that there was considerable appreciation of the importance of creative design and working drawing in the polytechnic fashion and textiles curriculum. It was also concluded that the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles had adequate and experienced creative design and working drawing lecturers who are very innovative and resourceful. Furthermore, this study also shows that lack of adequate materials is a challenge. The need for drawing material and equipment cannot be ignored in our schools if quality individuals who could propel our society in industrial advancement are to be produced. It is therefore incumbent on Management and Faculty to put in the necessary effort in providing adequate up-to-date facilities and materials for practical training and a conducive learning atmosphere for the teaching and learning of the course. en_US
