<description>Awareness and use of electronic resources at a university campus in Ghana
Buer, V.B.
This study looks into the use of electronic resources by the&#13;
faculty members of College of Technology Education, Kumasi of&#13;
the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. Sixty-two copies&#13;
of a questionnaire were sent to the entire faculty and 31 were&#13;
returned which gave a response rate of 50%. The responses&#13;
showed very low level of faculty awareness of the electronic&#13;
resources. It was also found out that inadequate training in the&#13;
use of the electronic resources was a major factor in the non-use&#13;
of the electronic resources by the faculty. The paper then&#13;
professes suggestions such as aggressive marketing of the&#13;
resources and the need to train users to acquire skills to enhance&#13;
their optimal utilization of the resource

<description>Teaching of information literacy as a credit-bearing course at two ghanaian universities: A comparative study
Buer V.B.
This study compares delivery of information literacy in two Ghanaian universities by looking at the characteristics, similarities and differences between them. It is concluded that the contents of the two courses did not conform to any of the information literacy standards. Suggestions are made for further studies.

<description>Undergraduate students satisfaction with library services in a faculty library in university of education, Winneba. Ghana.
Larson A.; Owusu-Acheaw M.
This study was conducted to find out user satisfaction with services and resources at the Institute for Educational Development and Extension (IEDE) Library in University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The questions were both openclosed ended. The target population was 4,539 undergraduate students who patronise the library in all the nine Departments located at the North campus of the University of Education, Winneba. Ten percent population from each of the nine (9) departments was selected. In the entire total sample for the study was 454. Thus availability sampling technique was adopted for the study which means that users who were available at the time the research was carried out were asked to respond to the questionnaire after explaining to them the purpose for the study. There was a high response rate because they were retrieved right on the spot.. Data was analysed into frequency tables and percentages. Results of the study revealed that though students were satisfied with the present services, there is more room for improvement as far as the services and resources of the library are concerned. The study also provides evidence for IEDE management to allocate sufficient and regular budget as funds for items for library are more often ignored or glossed over. In addition, the findings of this study would enable management of the Institute in collaboration with library management to re-focus their attention on the library. Recommendations made included extending opening hours of the library; photocopier and printer among others are provided to enhance scholarly endeavours of users. 2020, University of Idaho Library.

<title>Prospects and challenges of prison libraries in Ghana: A case study of the Nsawam medium security prisons</title>

<description>Prospects and challenges of prison libraries in Ghana: A case study of the Nsawam medium security prisons
Mfum C.
The study explored the provision of library services at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison in Ghana. Incarcerated people are confronted with isolation and are often faced with limitations of personal choices and quality decision making. Library services remain an important service in every society that values freedom. The prison library is one of the few places that offer solace and escape in the extremely regulated lives of prisoners. The report is the result of a study into the information needs of prisoners and the resources and services that are available for this special population. A total of 100 male and female prisoners sampled purposively were selected for the study. The study discovered that literate prisoners of all categories desire library and information services for academic, recreational and rehabilitative purposes. The study however suggests the Ghana Prison Service does not engage professional librarians to manage library services for prisoners of the Nsawam Medium Security Prison. It is also discovered that prisoners and officers alike believe information use could be an effective tool to ensure the restoration of inmates to a socially acceptable life outside of the prison walls. Suggestions made for effective and efficient library and information services for prisoners include development of a general academic collection, provision of civic and legal education for prisoners, engagement of professional librarians to manage prison library, reading promotion and collaboration with public library services to offer standard prison library services in a bid to achieve the rehabilitation goal of the prison. 2012, University of Idaho Library.
