dc.description.abstract Some critics are of the view that Ama Ata Aidoo is a radical feminist in her private life as well as in her literary works. This article argues that, even if in her private life, Aidoo wants to be known as a radical feminist, in her literary works, she does not support the radical position of the euro-american feminism. The study proves that through the use of irony, Aidoo is calling for a moderate feminism. The paper therefore aims at studying the representation of feminist ideology in Ama Ata Aidoo’s Anowa. Then, it analyses how the use of irony contributes to the author’s call for moderate feminism in the play. The data were mainly collected from the author’s play Anowa and subjected to interpretative approach. The study is grounded in the radical feminism theory and a combination of the models of Afrocentric feminism. The study concludes that, though Aidoo condemns male hegemony in her play, she denounces the radical and violent position adopted by some feminist activists in their quest for women liberation, thus, calling for a moderate form of feminism en_US
