The main purpose of the study was to assess the effect of reward systems on employee motivation in Urban Roads Department, using Kumasi –Metro as a case study. Quantitative research approach was used. The population for the study was five hundred and fifty (550) employees from the Urban Roads Department, Kumasi Metropolis. Random sampling technique was used to select 226 participants for the study. Questionnaire was the main instrument used to collect primary data. The computer statistical package for social scientists (SPSS version 20) was used to process all the quantitative responses from the questionnaire. The study results concluded that the available reward packages at the Urban Roads Department, Kumasi Metropolis were good working conditions, salaries, employees recognition, training and development opportunities, allowances, and bonuses. Supervisors gave employees recognition for their effort and work. The employees have prospects for career development in their profession. The study results concluded that as a result of the motivation packages, employees work to the best of their ability and skills. Finally, there is a positive significant relationship between the reward packages and employee’s motivation to work effectively. The study recommended that the Management of the Urban Roads Department, Kumasi Metropolis should continue to give frequent allowances to staff to motivate employees to work effectively. Moreover, worker’s salaries should be increased to enhance employee’s motivation and job performance and also organise periodic career development programs to enhance employees’ prospects for future developments and goal achievements. There is the need to provide sufficient funds to enhance employee commitment to training and also provide adequate infrastructure to enhance training and development initiatives.

The success of organisations largely depend on the nature of motivational policies&#13;
established in dealing with employees been the most valuable assets who work to achieve&#13;
set goals and objectives. This study sought to examine motivational strategies adopted&#13;
by organisations with specific reference to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).&#13;
The target population involves employees of KATH (3,519). Stratified sampling&#13;
technique was used in selecting a sample size of 271 out of which 215 responded.&#13;
Questionnaire served as the main data collection instrument for the study. Motivational&#13;
strategies adopted included adequate salary structure, incentives, promotions, bonuses,&#13;
recognitions, empowerment and sense of belonging within the organisation. Motivation&#13;
in organisations should not be taken for granted since it is the lifeblood of ensuring&#13;
development, growth and success. There was strong positive correlation between&#13;
motivation and efficiency, employee commitment, job satisfaction and productivity in&#13;
organisations with specific reference to KATH. The management of KATH should&#13;
ensure that there exist attractive motivational packages for employees. This will help&#13;
boost their morale and instil empathy in them to achieve set targets.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the recruitment and selection practices of&#13;
organisations, using the Ghana Education Service (GES) Office in the Kumasi Metropolis&#13;
as a case. The study was guided by these objectives; to identify the recruitment and&#13;
selection practices, to examine how recruitment and selection practices affect the&#13;
performance of teachers and to assess the challenges faced by GES in recruitment, and&#13;
selection process. The population for the study was forty eight (48). Census method was&#13;
used to select all the forty eight (48) participants for the study. The study adopted a&#13;
descriptive survey research design and quantitative research approach. Questionnaire&#13;
was the main instrument used to gather primary data. The computer statistical package&#13;
for social scientists (SPSS version 20) was used to process all the quantitative responses&#13;
from the questionnaire. The study reviews that recruitment and selection play a pivotally&#13;
important role in shaping an organization’s effectiveness and performance. The study&#13;
again revealed that poor human relations planning affect recruitment and selection&#13;
practices. It was concluded that recruitment and selection has an important role to play in&#13;
ensuring worker performance and positive organizational. The study recommended that&#13;
the planning Unit for Human Resources of GES should also involve the employees in the&#13;
plans they make so that they feel part of the GES and also this would prepare them in case&#13;
of any change.

The telecommunication industry in Ghana has undergone tremendous change over the years&#13;
as a result of competition among the players. Telecommunication service providers are&#13;
constantly influencing perception of customer, based on the country of origin in order to&#13;
influence consumer choice. The study focused on the impact of Corporate Social&#13;
Responsibility (CSR) on firm’s performance in Ghana. The objectives of the study are to&#13;
examine some of the Corporate Social Responsibility activities undertaking by the&#13;
telecommunication industries in Ghana, to examine the implications of CSR Sales, to&#13;
determine the impact of CSR on customer loyalty and to determine the implications of sales&#13;
and customer loyalty on firm’s performance. The survey was conducted on a total of 300&#13;
respondents out of which 230 responses were received representing 76.67% response rate.&#13;
The study collected data using questionnaires. The study adopted convenience and&#13;
purposive sampling technique in selecting respondents. The results generally outline some&#13;
of the CSR activities firms in the Telecommunication sector carry out. Based on result,&#13;
activities primarily include: establishment of charitable foundations, reality shows for young&#13;
talents, educational sponsorship for needy but brilliant students, and provision of health care&#13;
facilities for communities, building and renovating schools. The study recommended that&#13;
firms should provide education on their CSR activities, undertake regular surveys, discover&#13;
challenges of their customers to improve their CSR activities, increase budget for CSR&#13;
activities due to the impact it has on the performance of firms in Ghana.
